3-4 Years Swimming

By this age, your child will have a good understanding and co-ordination of their body and can use this to learn even more swimming skills. We want to make swimming lessons both fun and educational, so we use lots of songs, games and toys to keep children engaged. During these lessons children will build on what they have learnt in previous swimming lessons, and work to improve their body positioning in the water, their breathing and their leg kick and arm pulls actions.

This is the final age group that we offer lessons to at Pollywiggle Swim School, and we aim to have every child at the ASA Learn to Swim Pathway stage 1/2 after these lessons. They will leave Pollywiggle Swim School ready to start school with a solid swimming ability for their age. These lessons are designed specifically to help little swimmers prepare for going into the water without an adult, either at school or at a swim academy.

Children between 3 and 4 years can vary greatly in their swimming abilities, and our lessons are tailored to your child’s needs. We focus on helping little ones feel confident in the water and understand their own ability as a swimmer. During these lessons we also teach key personal survival skills so your child can swim safely.

What Will Your Child Learn In 3-4 Years Swimming Lessons?

At this final stage of Pollywiggle Swim School, we will teach your child all the swimming skills they need to continue lessons at school or elsewhere. Our 3-4 years swimming lessons include:

  • Entering and exiting the water safely and independently, while paying attention to teachers signals.
  • Blowing bubbles on the water surface.
  • Lifting the head and breathing in preparation for 5m swims, either supported or alone.
  • Moving and balancing on a seahorse independently.
  • Rolling from front to back while moving through the water.
  • Floating in three different positions; mushroom, pencil and star
  • Jumping in from standing.
  • Pushing off the wall in a streamlined position.
  • Swimming on the back with a woggle float and no adult support.
  • Diving underwater to pick up an object.
